Opened on June 23, 2007, the British-style golf course is a property of Pierce County. So far, the Chambers Bay golf course hosted two major events: the U.S. Amateur in 2010 and the U.S. Open in 2015.
Robert Trent Jones Jr. was the chief designer of the Chambers Bay, and it spans 250-acre placed at the heart of a 930-acre county park. In 1992, Pierce County purchased this property for $33 million. When the U.S Open was held in Chambers Bay, the local economy benefited from this event and garnered around $150 million.
On July 1, 2018, the population estimates released by the Census Bureau was 33,740. This was a slight increase from the 31,133 residents back in April 2010. From 2014 to 2018, the median income per household was $70,796, and the city's per capita income was $37,382.
